Anniversary Things to Do

On your anniversary you might have some issues trying to decide what to do.  Have no fear, we are here to help.   We, of course, advocate travel on you anniversary.  But where?  we hear you cry!   Well, how about one of the ideas listed below:

– The Beach
The beach is one of the top romantic locations on earth.  You kickback in the sun and sand, with the sound of the waves lulling you into that relaxed state far from the worries and stresses of the daily grind.  Get a place ON the beach, as the travails of shuttling back and forth (traffic, packing and unpacking the car, etc.) can break that romantic mood.  Lake beaches are another possibility.  And camping at the beach can be an option if you need to save some money.

– A Cruise
A cruise may be the ultimate romantic vacation.  Once on board ship you can get away from it all, even the sight of land.  Getting together, just you and your sweetie, in the comfort of a cruise ship, can be great for a couple. You do want to ensure that you both like the idea, and that the potential cost won’t steal the romance (For more help with that, click here).  You have options with cruising, and you want to consider them before you go.  The Caribbean (cruising and beaches!) and Alaska (wildlife and glaciers) are just two of the many cruise destinations and styles. Check out your options before you go and pick something you both will enjoy.

– A Train Ride
A train ride can mimic many of a cruises most enjoyable attributes. Scenic, romantic and adventurous your trip can go from along stunning rugged coastline to high into the mountains (where you snuggle for warmth), across breathtaking valleys, and beyond.  You can find scenic and romantic train rides worldwide. In the US, some Amtrak rides take days to cross scenic  landscape, and can be a vacation in themselves. Or you can plan around one or more shorter scenic rides.

– Small Towns
Many couples say that some of their most romantic moments happen when they stay in small towns. Some report that it is especially true when they stay out of season.  They find a quiet, easygoing vibe, perfect for romance.  The crowding, tumult and hucksterism of the in season crowds are absent .   Restaurants and bars are more accessible, and the locals are a bigger part of life during the off season.

Anyway, always remember that the actual location isn’t most important when traveling for romance.  You want to find a spot where you both want to go, but you also want to find activities you can share. Any trip where you find things to do together will become a satisfying romantic vacation.
